I grew up in St-Lazare for a few years until I graduated and started working in the city. Although I've officially been a Montrealer for over 4 years and love the downtown life - access to everything by foot, the festivals and action and so much to do - I always enjoy the change of going to visit St-Lazare. It's such a big contrast to the city with so much open space, a lot of trees and, of course, the horses! The city is known for having a lot of horse farms which is a big part of its charm, and it even has a Festival which revolves around horses! I had a lot of fun with the preparations, and people's feedback and ideas really helped me with my planning. Not only did I make 4 new paintings, but also had other products such as bookmarks and coasters, which were really popular! The 3rd edition of the Festival au Galop on July 8th and 9th was a really great experience for me! It was amazing to have my own tent set up among other people exhibiting - and it wasn't just other painters but all sorts of kiosks. Festivals like this provide such a fun ambiance to showcase my art, it really is an event that all sorts of people go to and enjoy and I got to meet a lot of interesting people! Thank you to all who took the time to come see me, to look at my artwork and my portfolio. Thank you for your kind words and your interest. I also want to thank the city for organizing it as well as all those who worked hard to make the festival what it was. I am definitely going to be back next year and look forward to it! If you were'nt able to make it or meet with me, you can find my available paintings in my store. There are also still some bookmarks and coasters available, and I have a new product: decorative cushions! If interested, take a look at my store at the following link: http://www.ameliesutter.com/store Please note that I also take custom orders! If you have a beautiful horse and would love to have a painting of them, send me a message with some photos and we can discuss the process!
My very first solo exhibit took place at Studio Bizz, in the centre of the Plateau Mont-Royal in Montreal. I've been painting for many years and always dreamt of eventually having enough of a portfolio to get to exhibit on my own. It's a great feeling to know that I reached that goal and that I found such a wonderful location to have my work shared. I feel so lucky to live in such an artistic city where art is such an important part of the culture. It was a great experience for me and I'd like to thank everyone who took part in it; thank you to those who helped me set up and take down my artwork, who helped plan the vernissage and to all who took the time to go see it! I appreciate it and it's so encouraging and motivating to know that people appreciate my work. I'd also like to thank everyone - my family, my friends and my boyfriend - for always being there for me and encouraging me to pursue this passion. I couldn't do it without you! I'm very happy with how the exhibit went and know there will be many more. I look forward to working on new projects very soon and getting my artwork out there! |
